From the 17th to 26th of November Chiara Baitelli from Rudiano, Jessica Onger and Martina Mezzasalma from Castelcovati, Giovanni Calvetti from Chiari and Eleonora Fioravanti from Sirmione lived their first experience of international exchange “Do it MIME way!” in Zakopane, Poland, where they took part with other 41 European participants.
“The exciting atmosphere that we shared with other guys of Turkey, Lithuania, Poland and Romania allowed us to have a wonderful experience! – said Jessica Onger, a group leader of the Italian delegation that included Eva from Prato and Dario from Naples. “We chose a dance workshop – said Chiara Baitelli – The group activities allowed us to express emotions and feelings through dance developing choreography with support of stunning soundtracks to make the final performance “Face” on the theme “Life and Death” that we presented to the local public. We performed two times: for children at school and in the evening in front of the adult audience. We also got applauses from thirty guys from Slovakia who participated in Poland in another Erasmus project about sport “.
Youth Exchange, organized by Youmore Morcelli Giovani in Zakopane and coordinated by the project manager Justina Krauledaitė, expected to know basic level of English. “But we have never had any problem with communication! – said Martina Mezzasalma – “Of course, being “forced” to speak in English with all participants of the project, “forced” us to improve our language skills. However, other guys when they were in trouble used universal language of gestures to make them understood.” The intercultural evening organized by Italian group had a resounding success. “We proposed a quiz about Italy – said Giovanni Calvetti – and we were amazed by the excellent level of knowledge of our country abroad. We conquered them based Nutella, taralli, salame, limoncello, rosa camuna and grana padano which was literally pulverized! I have to admit that less success got some foreign specialties like couscous, turkish coffee – undrinkable! – Or certain garlic creams that were indigestible …”. During a week in Poland the Italian quintet managed to visit Zakopane, a popular resort in the Tatra Mountains and Krakow.
Jessica Onger and Eleonora Fioravanti decided to reach Auschwitz by bus, distanced about 150 km. “We have never had any problems during youth exchange in Poland – said Jessica Onger – We felt very well followed by organizers who gave always their support and on arrival they also proceeded to change euro in zloty. Indeed, the last day of our permanence, they also reimbursed 100% of travel cost in cash.” All projects promoted by Youmore Morcelli Giovani, in addition to the total coverage of food and accommodation for participants, include the reimbursement of travel costs from 80 to 100%, as in this case. “If at the beginning we had some doubts – admitted Chiara Baitelli – all fear was overcome thanks to strong team spirit.” “We ascertained that, making friends with other European participants, we’re really all equal – noticed Eleonora Fioravanti.
“I had a moment of confusion at the beginning – said Gioavanni Calvetti – when I saw that my roommate was Romanian. Well, after sharing with him the experience, I must say that he is not just very nice but we continue to chat online.” The contacts on WhatsApp and Facebook are now standard practice. During the exchange in Poland Martina Mezzasalma and Jessica Onger experimented new solutions to be applied to organize the first project of Youth Exchange “Breakfast Culture Club” organized by Youmore Morcelli Giovani at CG2000 in April in Chiari.
To the group of Chiari was added Eleonora Fioravanti from Sirmione which has been co-opted by Youmore Morcelli Giovani thanks to the network of agency Eurodesk of Chiari in collaboration with Antenna Eurodesk of Desenzano and local InformaGiovani coordinated by Lidia Cattozzo. “I have just graduated from the Technical Institute of Tourism – added Eleonora – I had this wonderful opportunity to go abroad and now, thanks to Youmore Morcelli Giovani, I am thinking about new proposals for staying in distant countries for even longer period”.
Participants of Youth Exchange in Zakopane can’t wait to tell their experience in Poland to students of CFP of Chiari on January 22 and to show proudly their personal Youthpass. They look forward to be added in mailing list of Youmore Morcelli Giovani to be always updated about new proposals and initiatives.
