Timetable and plan of weekly/daily program during the volunteer period
Project lasts 12 months, starting in September 2017 when the volunteers arrive to Pori. The first two months the volunteers will get to know Pori, Finnish culture, organization and the basics of the work. Mentoring is more intensive in the beginning, meetings once a week and whenever needed. In addition the volunteers will participate to the on-arrival training included in the program.
Objective is that after two months the volunteers will already work as a natural part of our work community. Work at our Department of Sports and Youth Affairs is very versatile and hence the tasks, work days and times can vary greatly. The main task of volunteers is to work in our small groups for youth and at our youth houses, which we have eight in different parts of the city. Volunteers will have the opportunity to try working in several different tasks. Besides the youth groups and houses, we organize different events, camps and clubs. If volunteers have the skills and motivation we will provide the possibility to participate in office work like graphic design, updating our web pages, project management and planning and executing social media campaigns to advertise our activities.
Below is an example of a monthly, weekly and daily program for volunteers when working at the youth houses. The schedules will be tailored according to the skills and interests of the volunteers. Then there might be more office work and less evening shifts.
