Alice Galli, Sara Gorlani and Renato Marini, co-founders of association Juna, three twenty-years-old guys from Chiari with their friend Stefano Rossi from Cologne are ready to depart to a Polish city, Tarnów, where from 4 to 11 December they will participate in the project of Youth Exchange “Powerful disability. We are all equal!” promoted and organized by Eurodesk of Chiari, Youmore Morcelli Giovani, and coordinated by the project manager Justina Krauledaitė.
“Juna that in Esperanto means young – said Renato Marini, a student of Languages at Catholic University of Brescia – is the name we chose this year to form with seven other guys from Chiari our youth organization that aims to organize meetings and events for young people in collaboration with educational agencies of the territory and in particular with Department for youth of Chiari and InformaGiovani. We are a young organization that makes its first steps, but we are already proactive example with our contribution in selection of films for Summer and Autumn Cinema forum, organized by Department for youth in Square Martiri della Libertà, and we also cooperate actively with CG2000 for evenings of the festival of youth bands. As a delegation of Juna, we will take part in Youth Exchange in Poland organized by Youmore Morcelli Giovani to promote objectives of our association at international level in a project of European importance that deals with the issue of disability as an opportunity to recognize equality without differences. I chose this project because, with my even slight disability, I feel personally involved in to overcome social exclusion of people with disabilities. Among the activities about this topic already promoted in Chiari, we intend to present to our European partners the event “Skarrozzata. A walk to prove disability” organized in Chiari with support of other members of Juna on the 5th of December which coincides with “Day of the rights of persons with disabilities” to raise awareness about many mental and architectonic barriers that hinder the path of those who have limited mobility.”
The association Juna makes partnership with Youmore Morcelli Giovani to encourage initiatives of young people of the territory in full harmony with statutory purposes of the Fondazione Istituto Morcelliano. It also extends through this cooperation the input of Youmore to create a network with local projects that arouse interest of more or less formal youth groups engaged in education of new generations.
Renato Marini, a group leader of Youth Exchange in Tarnów, involved also his friend Stefano Rossi from Cologne who added: “We go to Poland one day before the beginning of the project to visit Krakow. We all have basic knowledge of English, but we hope to make new international contacts with our peers abroad.” In total, in the project in Poland participate 36 members not only from Italy, but also from Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine. “There are also other guys who take part of our Italian group – said Alice Galli,- there is a student of Languages at Catholic University of Brescia, a boy and a girl from Catania, a girl from Brescia, another girl from Sarezzo and one guy from Mosciano Sant’Angelo, in the province of Teramo. Practically we bring to Poland the representation of various Italian regions and it will help us to organize our intercultural evening where we tend to propose culinary specialties and typical products of different areas of Italy to guys of the project.”
The project for young people aged from 18 to 25 years old with basic knowledge of English offers to participants the full cover of costs for food and accommodation and reimbursement of 80% of travel costs. “We leave with willing to know Polish culture but also to make us more aware of how at the international level it is dealt with the issue of social inclusion of people with disabilities – said Sara Gorlani, student of Communication Sciences at University of Bergamo – Groups of reflection and evaluation of the project “Powerful disability. We are all equal” represent an opportunity to see not only how to overcome the barriers that hinder people with different disabilities, but how to overcome some prejudices or narrow mindsets which create division. Alice and I, winners of the lottery which was hold last May by Youmore Morcelli Giovani during the European Youth Week in Chiari, with our friends become ambassadors of Youmore in Europe, but also witness of our association Juna which shares the objectives of social inclusion of people with disabilities. “
