Stefano Rossi from Cologne with Alice Galli, Sara Gorlani and Renato Marini from Chiari has recently returned from Poland where from 4 to 11 December was hold a youth exchange “Powerful disability. We are all equal! ” organized by Eurodesk of Chiari – Youmore Morcelli Giovani and coordinated by the project manager Justina Krauledaitė.
“There were nine Italians – said Stefano Rossi – because a group leader Daniel Edoardo from Teramo, Martina Corti and Sabrina Guarini from Brescia, Marika Ricciardi from Fiumefreddo (Catania) and John Salamanca (Catania) joined us in Tarnòw. There we became friends with other participants from Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine in total with thirty-six young people. We carried out intensive workshops on the issue of inclusion of people with disabilities and we worked together to identify and remove stereotypes which create barriers for mutual understanding with those who are simply different. There were also presented many NGOs – non-governmental organizations that deal with youth projects’ promotion of overseas exchanges. Besides, we had a very special guided tour to Krakow, because it was organized like a treasure hunt to identify and discover main sightseeing and the most important monuments of the city.
We hadn’t got any problems or difficulties of understanding! The first day we saw a billboard with main expressions to greet and make friends in different languages! And, in any case, we had a chance to improve our school level of English. On Monday, 7 December we, as an Italian team, organized the Italian evening to present our country. Then we proposed to play to everybody. We divided all participants in three groups – basil, tomatoes and mozzarella – to recall not only the ingredients already known as colors of pizza all over the world but also to remember the colors of our flag. There is lot of curiosity abroad to learn Italian and taste our typical specialties, from salami to grana padana, to limoncello … “.
All participants of Youth Exchange “Powerful disability. We are all equal!” received the Youthpass – certificate of attendance and all of them received reimbursement of 100% of travel cost, in addition to the usual coverage of food and accommodation. Youth exchange in Poland has also allowed to Alice Galli, Sara Gorlani and Renato Marini, co-founders of the organisation Juna of Chiari, to export the objectives and initiatives of this young association which currently organize local events and meetings in collaboration with the educational agencies of the territory and in particular with Department of Youth Policy of Chiari and InformaGiovani. Thanks to Fondazione Istituto Morcelliano and Youmore Morcelli Giovani it is developing a high-profile of cooperation to enhance young resources of Chiari.
