During the period 8 – 16 November the high school “L. Einaudi” had the opportunity to join the project “Somewhere I belong” which was hold in Sottrum (Bremen), Germany. The project was organized within the Erasmus+ program and it was fund by European Union. We could participate in this event thanks to Fondazione Istituto Morcelliano, a European partner.
sottrumIn this project there were presented also other countries, among the participants there were young people from Germany, Macedonia, Greece and Lithuania. The main goal of project was motivating young people in the participation in the activities dedicated to the immigration topic. The project was focused on developing intercultural attitudes. During the project there were workshops, simulation games, role-plays, group discussions about the main topic – immigration. The participants could exchange their ideas about hospitality, integration and solidarity. Also there was discussed the role of art as a method of overcoming the division. They created different art objects like paintings, drawings, multimedia materials, poems and songs, even a flash mob in Bremen streets.
During the evenings there were organized intercultural nights, when every group presented its country with some traditional food and brief historical-art presentation.
Meanwhile the Italian group had brought the movie “Fuocoammare” and the cultural Italian point of view and experience of Brescia region.
In general, the experience was very positive and all our expectations were realized during project days. The participants got a chance to make new friendship, open new culture and find out the difference between their countries. Also this experience is very important for young people, since the project language was English so young people were obliged to speak English during these days and definitely they improved their language skills.
Also for me, a teacher, who accompanied the group, this experience was very important and motivating; it was very exciting to meet a lot of young persons from different countries who gathered to learn new things to spread the idea of solidarity in Europe.
I am sure that this experience is very significant for all participants in the way they go.
